Vision is our mission. Restoring vision to people in developing nations is our cause. We are a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) organization with a focus on empowering local physicians and creating a sustainable solution to the blindness epidemic.
In 1986, Dr. William Jackson and his wife Audrey spent 3 years serving the people of the Philippines. There they found a great need for medical care for needy children. As a result, Dr. Jackson began the Deseret International Foundation. Now operating under the name CharityVision, this program has been expanded to serve many other countries.
The secret of our success lies with our local physician partners throughout the world. We provide our skilled local physicians with the surgical equipment and supplies they need to be successful. They provide their talent and time at no cost. The result is a network of developing health services systems that perform charitable surgeries free of charge.
The Local Physician
Knows the language and culture Is skilled in the types of medical procedures required Provides continuous local follow up Becomes an essential part of the local medical community Helps to build a sustainable charity program Becomes a permanent partner in the fight against needless blindness.
We’ve learned how to stretch every donation. Many fine companies donate used and new equipment and supplies to our cause. Countless people donate their time and talents. Keeping overhead low and building smart partnerships helps us remain efficient.
